Rogue-Likes are a lot more tolerable when you think about an arcade game like Pac-Man. You’re gonna start over every time you play, might as well change up the mazes. Going Under is 1 of many rogue likes from the 2010s. We have so many rare physical editions of rogue likes flooding the GS Switch Shelves.
Here’s dungeon crawler where instead of dungeons you explore business start ups. Your weapon is anything in the room, keyboards, coffee pots, torches and fight through randomly generated offices. You’ll crawl through literal Bitcoin Mines underground or a dating site’s HQ as you slaughter Job-lins. Like goblins it’s a cute pun but my sister think it’s stupid. Upgrades are themed around corporate buzzwords like Conflict Resolver: Which shocks enemies after taking damage. Or Team Player: It transfers your damage to another character.
The art is corporate memphis design in 3D. Apparently it was hated by those in the past but that’s only because it was everywhere. 404 pages, instructional pamphlets, ads for hotels. This game uses corporate art to vent about corporations. With your character being Jackie and new intern, she has to put up with tons of scummy business practices.
I would have put in a Skum Cola dungeon. Did you know I almost intern for them? This was prior to the Soda-Lanche Tidal Wave. Oh god that could have been me. I swear Skum cola had a different flavor for a week after that happened. I’m so sorry for anyone caught in the blender.
Instead 1 looooooooong dungeon of multiple bosses, this rogue like has you choose short dungeons that end after a boss match. Perfect for people who have jobs. That’s a huge factor why I would call this a rogue like for those who don’t care for rogue likes.
